Subject: Olivenhain Town Council Candidates Forum Cancelled

Good evening,

After great consideration and discussion during the last 24 hours, the Olivenhain Board of Directors has decided to cancel the Olivenhain Town Council Candidate Forum scheduled for Wednesday, October 5.  The OTC President, who is also a Division 4 candidate, abstained from the cancellation vote.  

We are now directing community members to the multiple upcoming League of Women Voters forums.

Olivenhain Town Council (OTC) is hosting an in-person candidate forum at the Olivenhain Meeting Hall.

Date: Wednesday, October 5

Time: 6:30 pm : expect to last 2+ hours

Where: Olivenhain Meeting Hall

Who: All Mayoral and District 4 Candidates can participate

Each candidate will have 2 minutes for an opening statement, 2 minutes for closing and 1 minute to answer each question. The questions will be submitted to us, we will review and ask each to respond - no questions will be directed to one particular candidate.

Leucadia / Old Encinitas Town Council D4 Candidate Debate

Tuesday October 11, 2022 at 7:00 pm

The League of Women Voters North County San Diego (LWVNCSD) will moderate a Candidates Forum that will be conducted virtually via Zoom for qualified candidates running for the office of
Encinitas City Council District 4. The event is being sponsored by the Leucadia-Encinitas and Olivenhain Town Councils. The League of Women Voters will moderate this event for the sponsoring organization.

The League of Women Voters never supports or opposes candidates for public office and will conduct the forum in an impartial way and in accordance with the ground rules and policies specified on the attached sheets. All qualified candidates, as determined by our established criteria, are invited to participate.

The format for this public forum will be as follows:
1. In a randomly determined order, starting at 7:00 PM each candidate will be given 2 minutes to make anopening statement.
2. The LWV moderator will ask questions selected from written questions submitted by the public prior to the Zoom meeting. The questions will be screened to avoid duplication, to insure a range of topics and issues, and to avoid questions that are not pertinent to the issues. The candidates will have one minute each to respond to each question.
3. Each candidate will make a closing statement of no more than 2 minute. The League of Women Voters has used this format many times before and believes that this forum will help acquaint voters with all the candidates in a fair and impartial way.
